Michele Holland Piano & Voice assists in preparing students for several types of exams. Two of the most popular music exams have different levels and requirements. The MTAC Certificate of Merit is the gradient exam that is the most popular in California. It is an annual exam that has 11 levels.
Testing is done on theory, ear-training, technique, and a 2 to 5 piece program. The annual National Guild Piano Playing Auditions has 15 levels. Much of the emphasis is on performance, and no theory is tested. The piece program can consist of up to 15 musical selections.
